Slayer to headline fall Jagermeister Music Tour

For the second year in a row, metal pioneers Slayer will head up the fall edition of the Jagermeister Music Tour.

The triple-bill run--which will also feature Killswitch Engage and Mastodon --kicks off in late October, and wraps up in the Los Angeles area on Dec. 17. Stops are planned in almost 40 cities. Details are shown below.

In addition to the three national acts, each show will also feature a local act selected by Jagermeister, according to the tour's official website.

Concertgoers will have a chance to win prizes from Jagermeister and tour co-sponsors Schecter Guitars, Peavey Electronics, Coffin Case and Meini Cymbals, according to organizers.

On Oct. 26--three days before launching the tour--Slayer issues the live DVD "Still Reigning." Recorded on July 11 in Augusta, ME, the set includes a full performance of the group's 1986 breakthrough album, "Reign In Blood."

"'Reign in Blood' is our signature record, and if people think that it helped set the path for that genre of music, that's great," frontman/bassist Tom Araya said in a statement. "It's a record that means a lot to all of us in the band--it was our first record for a major label, and our first record with [producer] Rick Rubin, who gave it unconditional support."

The DVD will also include behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, according to a press release.

Killswitch Engage is supporting its third album, "The End of Heartache," which surfaced in May. Mastodon is backing its just-released sophomore set, "Leviathan."
