Pixies shuffle schedule as tour rolls on

The Pixies continue to tweak the schedule for their successful reunion outing, adding new shows in several markets, and juggling some previously scheduled stops.

The Boston-bred group's itinerary now includes two Massachusetts stops: Nov. 30 in Amherst, and Dec. 1 in Lowell. Tickets for both dates are due to hit the box office on Sept. 11, according to organizers.

The shows are the Pixies' first headlining shows in the Boston area since a Nov. 27, 1991 concert at the city's Orpheum Theater, according to the group's publicist.

Meanwhile, the band has canceled a planned Oct. 4 performance in Cedar Rapids, IA, and has moved its Columbus, OH, stop--originally set for Nov. 22--into the Oct. 4 slot. Refunds for tickets to the Cedar Rapids show are available at the point of purchase, according to the show's promoter.

The tour is currently scheduled to end with a six-night stand at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom. The complete itinerary appears below.

Earlier this year, the original Pixies lineup--vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering--reunited and toured together for the first time since holding down the opening slot on U2's 1992 Zoo TV tour.

In a recent interview with liveDaily, Black was noncommittal on the subject of whether the group would continue to work together after the tour ends.

"I suppose it could go either way," he said. "It's not something that we actively talk about, but I suppose we'll play it by ear."
