Yanni confirms dates through February

Yanni 's latest North American arena tour is underway, and the New Age icon is now scheduled to be on the road through February.

The outing launched Nov. 6 in Las Vegas, where Yanni's performance was taped for his first new television special in seven years--and his first ever to be filmed in the U.S.

The special will be broadcast nationally in 2005, and will be also be available on DVD and on High Definition television. A live CD will be culled from the same performance.

Yanni's last three television specials--filmed at the Acropolis in Greece, the Taj Mahal in India, The Forbidden City in China and at London's Royal Albert Hall--have aired regularly during PBS pledge events.

The current Yanni tour is scheduled to visit 55 cities in late 2004 and early 2005, and concerts will feature music from his last three Virgin Records albums, as well as some older material, according to a press release.

In 2003, the keyboardist/arranger's 60-plus date North American tour grossed $24.8 million, ranking at No. 24 on concert publication Pollstar's year-end list of top tours.

Yanni, a Greek native and a naturalized U.S. citizen, graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in psychology before embarking on his musical career.

"Ethnicity," Yanni's latest album, was issued in February 2003. The set debuted at No. 1 on the New Age charts.
