Black Crowes reunite for five-night stand in New York City

Absent from the stage for over four years, The Black Crowes return this spring for a five-night run in the Big Apple.

Led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, the reunited Crowes are booked at the Hammerstein Ballroom March 22, 23, and 25-27. According to a press release, each show will feature a different opening act "handpicked" by the Robinson Brothers: John Butler Trio, The Bees, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, North Mississippi Allstars and Ben Kweller. Details are shown in the itinerary below.

Tickets for all five shows hit the box office on Feb. 5, though fans will have an early shot at tickets via an Internet pre-sale that begins on Jan. 25. More information about the pre-sale is available at the Crowes' website.

The concerts will be the first for The Black Crowes since an early 2002 announcement that the group was going on an indefinite hiatus while the Robinson brothers pursued separate solo endeavors. The band last performed together on Halloween of 2001.

Whether the New York City gigs will lead to a larger reunion tour is yet to be seen.

"Regardless of speculation, we are going to see how these shows at The Hammerstein evolve before giving any further consideration to additional shows," group manager Pete Angelus said in a statement.

The Black Crowes' most recent studio album is 2001's "Lions." The concert set "Live" followed in 2002.

The Atlanta, GA-based group burst onto the scene with its 1990 debut, "Shake Your Money Maker," which spawned the hits "Hard to Handle" (originally recorded by Otis Redding), "Jealous Again" and "She Talks to Angels."
