More Elvis Costello concerts planned for North America

Elvis Costello has tacked several new dates onto his winter/spring tour of North American clubs and theaters, and is now scheduled to visit about 20 cities.

The veteran rock singer/songwriter opens the year with a series of European dates that run through mid-February. He's scheduled to launch his U.S. tour March 2 in Orlando, FL, and dates so far run into mid-April. The U.S. tour itinerary is below; information about the European tour is available at Costello's official website.

Costello issued two new albums in 2004: the rock album "The Delivery Man" and a recording with The London Symphony Orchestra of his composition "Il Sogno."

On the horizon is the Jan. 25 release of the 10-inch vinyl EP "The Clarksdale Sessions," which Costello and his band The Imposters recorded during rehearsals for "The Delivery Man." The EP is named for the one-room, Clarksdale, MS, studio in which it was recorded. Among the tracks on the EP are alternate versions of "The Delivery Man" cuts "Monkey to Man" (titled "Monkey" on the EP),"Country Darkness," "Needle Time," "The Scarlet Tide" and the title track. It also features the previously unreleased Costello song "In Another Room" and a cover of "Dark End of the Street."

Five other alternate versions of tracks from "The Delivery Man" are currently available at Apple's iTunes Music Store in a collection dubbed "The Futurama Sessions."

In addition, a new Costello concert DVD, titled "Club Date: Live in Memphis," is expected to hit stores in April. The DVD was taped last summer at the Hi-Tone Lounge.
