Tesla powers down for more acoustic shows

As the start of its acoustic tour approaches, rock quintet Tesla has added more dates to the run.

The outing, which is still scheduled to kick off Feb. 20 in Vermont, now includes a number of new March stops. Details are shown below.

Dubbed the "Five Man Acoustical Jam 2005" tour, the trek marks the 15th anniversary of Tesla's 1990 acoustic set, "Five Man Acoustical Jam." The group is inviting fans to help select the set list for the tour; details are posted at its website.

Released in 1990, "Five Man Acoustical Jam" spawned the hit "Signs"--a cover of a 1971 song originally recorded by the Five Man Electrical Band--which helped propel the set to sales of more than a million copies; ironically, Tesla's record company at the time originally balked at the idea of releasing the collection, as unplugged albums weren't yet in vogue.

In addition to marking the 15th anniversary of "Five Man Acoustical Jam," the tour supports Tesla's first new studio set in more than a decade, "Into the Now." Released in March of 2004, the album debuted at No. 31 on The Billboard 200 chart, and at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart.
