Guster blows through new material during college outing

Alt-rock trio Guster , which soon will finish work on its next album, plans to follow its stint in the recording studio with a run on the college circuit.

Word of the two-week trek--which kicks off April 14 in Cleveland--follows the band's announcement that it has pushed back a planned March tour of the U.K. until May.

"And with that piece of news, the British will no longer be the first ones to hear our new tunes performed live," the group wrote in a message posted at its website. "That frightening privilege belongs to the distinguished student body of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, because as soon as the album's done we're celebrating with a two week college tour!"

The run wraps up with an April 30 show at Milwaukee's Eagles Ballroom, the only non-college venue on the schedule. The full itinerary is shown below, and student-only shows are noted.

The Boston-based trio is about halfway through the making of its fifth album, which is expected to surface this summer. The set follows 2003's "Keep It Together."
