With their winter acoustic tour now in the books, veteran rockers Los Lobos are set to plug back in for a mix of festival appearances and headlining shows.
The group is also scheduled to play additional acoustic shows this fall. Two are currently set for October; details are in the itinerary below. During its acoustic gigs, the band mixes songs from its vast catalog with many traditional Mexican folk songs.
Los Lobos celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2004 with the release of a guest-filled album titled "The Ride." It was followed by the six-track covers EP "Ride This," which features the group's takes on Elvis Costello's "Uncomplicated," Tom Waits' "Jockey Full of Bourbon," The Blasters' "Marie Marie," Bobby Womack's "More Than I Can Stand," Thee Midnighters' "It'll Never Be Over for Me" and Ruben Blades' "Patria."
Costello, Blades, Waits, Womack, The Blasters' Dave Alvin and Thee Midnighters' Willie Garcia are among the guests who contributed to "The Ride."
In November, Los Lobos released the concert DVD "Live at the Fillmore," which was recorded at the historic San Francisco venue over two nights last summer. The DVD features performances of 21 songs, as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette with backstage footage and interviews with band members.
