Rockers System of a Down, who launched a guerilla club tour earlier this week, are drawing up plans for a summer tour of North American arenas.
Special guests The Mars Volta and a third act, yet to be named, will support on all of the arena dates, according to System's publicist.
Though specific dates haven't been confirmed, the tour is expected to open in early August and run for two months.
"We're very excited about getting out on the road this summer," SOAD vocalist Serj Tankian said in a statement. "It's been a long time since we've done a major American tour, and with The Mars Volta on the bill, I think we're giving our fans a terrific show."
SOAD opened a 10-city U.S. club tour Monday (4/25) in Los Angeles to advance the May 17 release of "Mezmerize," disc one of the group's "Mezmerize/Hypnotize" album. "Hypnotize" is expected to reach stores in about six months. Confirmed club dates are in the itinerary below; the band will announce additional cities and venues, as well as ticket on-sale information, via its website shortly before each show takes place.
System recorded the 30 tracks that comprise "Mezmerize/Hypnotize" at co-producer Rick Rubin's Los Angeles studio during the second half of 2004. Andy Wallace mixed the set.
The band will perform "B.Y.O.B.," the first single from "Mezmerize," when they appear as musical guests on "Saturday Night Live" May 7.
