Kasey Chambers returns to the U.S. in August

Australian alt-country artist Kasey Chambers returns to the U.S. tour circuit this summer, when she'll tackle an itinerary that features stops in 16 cities over three weeks.

The outing, which gets underway Aug. 5 in Baltimore, includes a mix of headlining and festival appearances, as detailed in the itinerary below.

Chambers continues to back her third album, last year's "Wayward Angel." On her upcoming outing, she's expected to play selections from her catalog, and to also play a few new songs, according to a press release.

The singer/songwriter will return to the studio later this year to begin work on her next album, due in 2006, her publicist said.

Each of Chambers' albums has topped the country and pop charts in her homeland.

A native of the Nullarbor Plain on Australia's southern Central Coast, Chambers recorded her debut album, "The Captain," in 1998 and released it in the U.S. in 2000.
