Veteran performer Michael McDonald has launched his latest round of U.S. shows, and will offer up a new best-of disc in the midst of the outing.
The singer/keyboardist, who kicked off his summer trek in Massachusetts Thursday (7/7) night, has shows booked through mid-September, including a July 27 performance in Los Angeles with James Brown. Details are included in the itinerary below.
On Aug. 9, Rhino Records will issue "Michael McDonald - The Ultimate Collection," a compilation of songs spanning from 1976 through the present. The set features a mix of McDonald's solo work, duets and pre-solo numbers with The Doobie Brothers. A complete track listing is posted at his website.
Prior to launching his current tour, McDonald was in the studio finishing up a new Christmas album that's scheduled for release on the Hallmark label later this year, according to his website.
McDonald's most-recent release is last year's "Motown Two." That album, like its 2003 predecessor, features McDonald's interpretations of Motown classics.
