The inaugural U.S. edition of the U.K.'s successful Download Festival is set for Oct. 8 at Mountain View, CA's Shoreline Amphitheatre. The Killers have been tapped to headline.
Also confirmed for the bill, according to promoters, are Modest Mouse , The Arcade Fire, Doves, H.I.M. and Mindless Self Indulgence.
The concert film "Rick James : Superfreak Live 1982," will be released for the first time on DVD on July 26.
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has filed a lawsuit against former bassist David Ellefson, accusing him of using the band's name in an advertisement without permission.
Mustaine's suit claims that Ellefson used his former band's name in an ad for musical equipment, despite entering an agreement in February that restricted his use of the name Megadeth.
Country veteran Billy Joe Shaver will drop this first new studio album in three years, titled "The Real Deal" on Sept. 20.
He recorded 14 of the album's 16 tracks at a Pedernales, TX, studio. "It was great to be able to sing the way I want to sing," Shaver said in a statement. "I could set up the arrangements how I wanted rather than having to fit someone else's."
Among the guests who appear on the album are Big & Rich, Nanci Griffith, Flaco Jimenez and Kimmie Rhodes.
