Fourth L.A. show added to Neil Diamond's itinerary

Neil Diamond , who recently launched an extensive North American arena tour, has beefed up his schedule with an additional show in Los Angeles.

With the announcement of a Sept. 29 appearance at Staples Center, the iconic singer/songwriter is now scheduled to play four shows at the L.A. venue. Tickets for the new date go on sale Monday (8/15). A limited number of pre-sale tickets will also be sold; details are on Diamond's website.

Diamond initially planned the tour--which runs through October--to support a new album produced by Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash), but the release date for the as-yet untitled set has since been pushed back to Nov. 8.

Diamond has never had a No. 1 album, but is well established as a top draw on the concert circuit. His 2001-2002 outing behind his most recent album, 2001's "Three Chord Opera," grossed $88.6 million and played to more than 1.5 million people over the course of 117 shows--98 of which were sellouts--according to Billboard.
