George Strait , Kenny Chesney , Alan Jackson , Willie Nelson , Martina McBride and many other country-music acts to be announced will highlight "One Country: A Concert to Benefit the Survivors of Hurricane Katrina," set for Oct. 1 at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
Tickets for the concert, which will air live on the CMT cable network, go on sale Friday (9/16) at 10 a.m. CT, according to organizers.
In a statement, concert promoter and New Orleans native Louis Messina, one of the driving forces behind the benefit, said: "I watched my birthplace float away. I knew I needed to help, and this is the way I could reach the most people."
According to a press release, the show is being produced "almost entirely with donated equipment and services," and net proceeds will provide assistance to the relocated survivors and spur the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast region.
Reliant Stadium and all of its services, including its staff, and the proceeds from parking, food and beverages sold at the event, have been donated. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is donating the use of its production facilities for the show and underwriting the costs of its crew.
Ticketmaster will donate all service and convenience charges from the show to the cause. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.) Tickets will range in price from $39.50 to $125, and a limited number of $1,000 VIP packages will also be offered.
