Alternative singer/songwriter Duncan Shiek has scheduled a run of dates over the first two months of 2006 as he prepares for the January release of a new studio album.
After a New Year's Eve show at Boston's Orpheum, Sheik will next turn up Jan. 18 in Boone, NC, and play a number of mid-size venues as he works his was across the country over the following month.
"White Limousine," Sheik's fifth album of original material, is slated for release on Jan. 24. In a somewhat novel move, the album will be released with two discs; one, labeled "Mine," will include the basic album tracks as Sheik intended them, while the second disc, a DVD labeled "Yours," will include mixable versions of the album's songs, and an installable version of Live software to enable purchasers to make their own remixes of Sheik's songs.
"In this way, maybe someone will actually make the minimalist electronica version of 'White Limousine' that I was afraid to realize--personally, that is what I hope," Sheik said in a recent posting on his blog. "But, of course, there are countless other types of versions of these songs that one might attempt and I'm genuinely interested in what other people do with this material."
Sheik also plans to set up a website where fans can share their remixes and listen to what others have done with the "White Limousine" tracks.
